The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has a website that provides visitors with information relating to Medicaid and Medicare certified nursing homes throughout the United States. It includes information on payment and patient rights, and a nursing home checklist which will help you evaluate the nursing homes that you visit.

State of Illinois


The State of Illinois offers special benefits for its military service members and veterans including Property Tax Exemptions, exemptions for Specially Adapted Housing and Mobile Homes, State Employment Preferences and Assistance, Education and Tuition Assistance, Special Vehicle Tags, Veterans Homes, Burial Benefits as well as Hunting, Fishing Licenses and State Camping privileges. Eligibility for some benefits may depend on residency, military component and veteran disability status.

Faith in Action


Faith in Action is an interfaith volunteer care giving initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Local Faith in Action programs bring together volunteers from many faith to work together to care for their neighbors who have long-term health needs.

Faith in Action volunteers come from churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship, as well as the community at large. Volunteers help those in need by providing non-medical assistance with tasks such as:
  • Picking up a few groceries or running errands
  • Providing a ride to the doctor
  • Friendly visiting (talking and listening)
  • Reading or helping to pay bills
